562 EDDY - Hector

The land where this cemetery is located was once owned by Abraham LEONARD. In 1816 he sold 15 acres to his son-in-law William L. SMITH. When William died in 1820 he asked (in his will) to be buried on the rise to the east of his house. Recently the cemetery was visited by a relative of William Smith, but his stone was no longer visible. Abraham Leonard's stone was found broken.

566 Eddy Cemetery
Stratton, Windham County, Vermont

This cemetery is located northwest of the intersection of the Stratton-Arlington Rd. and Willis Cemetery Rd, beyond the house that occupies that corner. It was a family plot originally situated upon the farm of Phineas Ward Eddy. The stones face east as expected (away from the road). To its west there once existed a millpond that had spread out over the lowland there. It is surrounded by a stone wall with a gate on the road side. This cemetery's first burial was in 1836 and it was last used in 1911.

574 Eddy Research Problem

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have been trying to verify the Eddy Linage for many, many years now.

My grandmother and her siblings
Orpha "Eva" Eddy was born in Linn County Iowa on September 15, 1874.
M. #1 Abt. 1893 to George S. Elwood in Iowa?
M. #2 in 1901 to Gorgonio"George" M. Romero in San Francisco, California

Agnes Annette Eddy was born October 21, 1876 in Linn County, Iowa
M. to Hamilton "Hal" Foreman

Elmo LeGrand (LaGrande) Eddy was born June 28, 1889 in Grafton, California
M. Abt. 1920's to Edna Arrow of Lake Andes Yankton Sioux Reservatio ,South Dakota. All children were born on the reservation. Elmo was a US Government Agent for the Sioux Indians.

Their parents (my great grandparents)
Russell Farnim Eddy was born April 22, 1849 in Quincy, Illinois. Died January 10, 1933, where unkn, body shipped to the reservation, SD
(no records to verify place of birth)
He married September 9, 1873 in Linn County, Iowa -to
Ida Annette Story, born February 22, 1855 in Linn County, Iowa
(I sent for the marriage record, and it did not list their parent's names)

Russell had a brother, that I have been tracking; trying to verify the parents names.
Rufus Hamilton Eddy was born c. 1852 in Illinois
He married February 28, 1875 in Linn County, Iowa -to
Mary E. Smith (Correction her sister was Rosetta Smith)
(I sent for their marriage record, and it did not list their parents names .I believe Rufus is listed in one of the Eddy Family books)
From: EMartinz07@aol.com
OK, here starts the confusion, I want to verify /document my Great-great-grandparent's, names. I have for Russell (R.F.) & Rufus (R.H.) Eddy as follows:

Nash LeGrand Noffsinger Eddy born Abt. 1825 in Ft Deerboen, Illinois
He married Abt. 1848 to Elizabeth Ann Thompson born Abt. 1832 in Michigan.
(I can not find a Nash any where .)

1850 Census Fall Creek Adams County Illinois (List)
LeGrand Noffsinger- Elizabeth Thompson & Russell 1 year old

Did Elizabeth Thompson marry #2 Nash LeGrand Eddy ? Both having the LeGrand name? My grandmother stated her grandmother was a widow before she was seventeen with two babies, and that she was only married two years, that her grandfather was twenty-one years old at his time of death. Did Eddy possibly marry a widow with one or two kids, and adopt them, and then also die of the cholera? I believe that there was another marriage for Elizabeth, to a Rich, as her name on a photo taken around 1900, says Libby Rich Eddy. There's more, after my mom passed away, I found an old note stating Russell's parents were: Nash LeGrand Eddy & Myra Clara Gaines, hopefully she meant Russell's grandparent?

I have checked most Census, hired several genealogist, and still hit a brick wall. My only hope has been to wait, since 1983, and see if ever the Eddy unconnected lines connect.

Thank you so much for checking your database, with the computer it should be an a lot easier then in the past. All I can say is my family has been Eddy's for 155 years and all my cousin have the Eddy name.
